The Bucket List

I've heard the term "Bucket list" a lot in the past few years. Recently I checked out a few peoples lists and thought, "Well I've done that." and also a lot of "Why?" and the odd, "How could you achieve that!?". Some people put general personality traits they'd like to change, which I think is just stupid. A bucket list should be for individual events which then make the person you become.  I was thinking about a few of the adventures I've been on in my life. So here it is, in no particular order a list of “Shit wot I’ve done” in my 50 years on this miserable rock, No, just kidding, I think it’s a great place, and you would too if you stopped to take a look around.

Paragliding

Paragliding Mam Tor
I went Paragliding a few times, on the Isle of Wight and off Mam Tor in tut Peak District and the surrounding area. Stayed in a nice B&B in Hope. A fantastic part of the world, real English countryside.
And I can’t stand heights and not really a fan of flying, but I think it was because I was in control that I liked it. Catching a thermal up draft is like being lifted up by a giant hand. I remember flying wing tip to tip with a crow, he just looked across and gave a “CRAW!” as if saying “What are you doing up here , Human?”

Canoeing

Kyaks
I always wanted to go for a gentle pootle through the English countryside on a river in a canoe so when I was living in Oxford and saw a training day I thought “That’s for me”. I learnt two very important things that day,

1) The difference between a Canoe and a Kayak and 2) The river Isis taste awful.
The Kayak I had was also too small, not right for someone 6ft 4in tall. It was so small I couldn’t fit my legs in so had them pointing out straight and so couldn’t keep any kind of balance. I did shoot a weir, do a 8ft dive of a canal side, didn’t fall over BTW, and did a “Roll over and escape”. Still want to do a Canoe trip.

Drive a Ferrari 360 Modena

I used to think Ferraris were flash, overpriced posser mobiles, until I was lucky enough to drive one. It was fabulous, I would have one as a daily if I was wedged up.Ferrari
